This church is known as the "iron church". This is the only known iron church in Latvia. Its exterior – walls, window frames, roof rafters, roof, the bottom of the dome and the dome itself – is made of iron and cast iron. The church was built in 1866 from prefabricated structures made in Odessa. The church was moved to its current location and installed in 1904. Before that, in 1886 it was installed in Daugavpils. The church has the status of an architectural monument. The church building is not only unique, but it is also a valuable historical object. In this church, you can not only light a candle near the holy picture and order a prayer for health or for a deceased loved one, but also learn a lot about the beginnings of Orthodoxy in the territory of Latvia. By the way, it is Jersika that is considered the cradle of Orthodoxy in Latvia. A unique historical document - the Gospel of Jersika - is also connected with this place. The church is located on the right side of the road when driving from Livani to Daugavpils
