The Livani - Dignaja crossing-raft is a unique form of transport. The crossing-raft connects both banks of the Daugava and is a very important transport for residents, but for tourists it is exotic. You can move over by car, bicycle or by walking. In Latvia, such rafts can be found only in Ligatne on the Gauja river and Livani on the Daugava river. During the winter season, when the river freezes, the crossing-raft does not work.
Useful information: the big buses are not transported by crossing-raft, because the buses are too low, so it is physically impossible to get onto the platform of the crossing-raft. Passenger buses with up to 20 seats can be transported.
