What to see?
St. Mary Magdalene (Madalina) Roman Catholic Church
On the right side of the highway Riga - Daugavpils, after the village "Jersika", you will see a small and lovely church on the very bank of the Daugava. Built in the Romanesque style from boulders in 1821 on the territory of an old cemetery. In order for people to be able to draw from God's abundant grace for the needs of both soul and body, the place in the rural area for the construction of the church is said to have been chosen because there is a healing spring on the banks of the Daugava. The church has two large-format paintings: - The painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Constant Helper, which is older than the church; -St. The holy painting of Mary Magdalene, painted by the artist M. Drancens in 1934. In ancient times, this church was especially revered as an ancient holy place. As in the past, a spring flows out from the Madalina Church (that's what this church is called in the vernacular) and every traveler can stop in the garden of the church to quench their thirst with a sip of water from the Madalina Church spring.
