The Jersika hillfort dates back to the 1st century BC. Last mentioned in 14th century. It is known as the center of the Jersika country and residence of the ancient Latgalians.
Jersika hillfort is open to visitors for free. It is a place where to enjoy the beautiful views of the Daugava and possibly the most romantic sunsets. It is a great place for a picnic, meditation, overnight stay in tent, a photo session, also an outdoor wedding ceremony.
This point of interest is located on private property, so visitors are advised not to be afraid of the guard dogs of the hillfort's house and the shepherds' track that must be crossed to get to the hillfort. They are as peaceful as the centuries that lies in this hillfort!
